If you write memoir, novels, short stories or essays and want to grow the quality of your writing, this workshop is for you. Award-winning writer and WritingStrides founder Alissa Johnson will cover key elements that help your writing stand out and engage your readers on a deeper level. The class will cover imagery and description, dialogue, and point of view. Alissa will share some of the most common mistakes she sees writers make to help you understand the importance of each element, and use lecture, discussion, and writing time to help you improve your craft.
Alissa Johnson is the founder of the writing community WritingStrides and a nationally published, award winning writer whose work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Masters Review, Aife Literary Magazine and Dirt Rag Magazine among other publications. She was associate editor at the Crested Butte News from 2011 to 2017, and her writing has won awards from the Colorado Press Association and FundsforWriters. She holds an MFA in Creative and Professional Writing from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) and has taught at WCSU, Western State Colorado University, and the annual writing conference, Writing the Rockies.
