The Podcast Needs You

Posted on March 3, 2020February 25, 2020 by Mark Stevens

I think The Rocky Mountain Writer podcast broke a record last month.

In February, we had 757 downloads through February 24.

I’m going to assume that’s for the three episodes posted in February—with guests Carol Berg, Kristy Ferrin, and Nathan Lowell.

The stats were grabbed before the final February episode, with Kate Lansing, was posted late last week. So the final February totals will be higher.

757 downloads divided by three means an average of about 250 listeners per episode.

A bit more math: if you take the 25,000 total downloads since launch and divide by 201 episodes, that’s about 125 listeners per show.

So rate of listeners-per-show is growing.

So, two things:

  1. Do you have a book on the way or something you want to discuss? Contact me. The email is podcast@rmfw.org The only loose rule I’ve enforced is that guests need to be members of RMFW and/or need to be doing a presentation for RMFW at a workshop or at the conference. Unpublished, published? Rookie or veteran? Doesn’t matter. Plan ahead. It’s never too early to schedule an interview!
  2. I’d like to schedule some podcast episodes on topics. Name a topic! Writing action scenes? Writing dialogue? Writing romance? Writing suspense? Or maybe a conversation about marketing, finding an agent, finding a publisher, etcetera. Less “author and new book” (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and more general discussions. We could even have a couple of guests on at the same time. I’m open to suggestions.

In fact, I’m open to any suggestions.

Please chime in.
