Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers sponsors a variety of activities and events designed to fulfill the purpose of the organization, as stated in its Bylaws:

To provide an environment of support and encouragement among members. To stimulate interest in and appreciation of the art of writing. To act as a dissemination point for information concerning commercial fiction writing. To bring together authors, editors and agents for the mutual benefit of all.

AS A MEMBER, YOUR BENEFITS INCLUDE:

MONTHLY NEWSLETTER – The Rocky Mountain Writer, RMFW's monthly newsletter, keeps members informed of market news, events, and activities. It contains a variety of articles and columns, and a monthly calendar of events. Base membership includes a copy delivered monthly via e-mail, with archived copies available in the Members' area of the web site.

INTERNET DISCUSSION GROUP – An online forum where members can ask questions and participate in discussions on a variety of relevant topics.

CRITIQUE GROUPS – Members are encouraged to attend critiques. Whether your interest is mystery, romance, historical, mainstream, or science fiction, there is likely a critique group to fit your needs. Online critique groups are also available. Current groups are listed in every newsletter and on the web site.

PUBLISHED AUTHORS LIAISON (PAL) Members who have been published in fiction may join PAL, which offers cooperative promotion and publicity efforts.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC:

COLORADO GOLD WRITERS CONFERENCE – Held each fall, the Conference includes craft sessions with guest speakers, and the chance to meet and pitch to agents and editors.

COLORADO GOLD WRITING CONTEST – Held in conjunction with the conference. This is an opportunity for unpublished writers to get feedback and exposure. The top entries in each of the categories are judged by guest editors and agents.

REGULAR PROGRAMS – Presentations by members or outside experts on writing and the publishing industry. Topics generally include writing issues, craft, and research.

EDUCATION – Several times a year, extra workshops are held that focus on writing issues such as synopsis writing and characterization.

Membership is open to all persons seeking to further their writing opportunities and to learn more about the fiction-writing and publishing industry. Annual (calendar-year) membership dues are $45, non-prorated. An additional $5 surcharge is required of members who wish to receive the Newsletter via postal mail.
