RMFW Board
Volunteering with RMFW is a valuable opportunity to support fellow members, learn new skills, form new friendships, and give back to the writing community.
There are many opportunities to get involved with RMFW, some of which we’ve highlighted below. If you are interested please fill out the below form. We thrive because of our volunteers and welcome any help you’re willing and able to provide.
Some possible opportunities include:
RMFW President leads the Executive Committee and is involved in all operating decisions and management of the organization. The President serves as spokesperson, calls for and presides over meetings, appoints committees, serves as ex officio member of all committees, coordinates activities, and executes business as specified by the Board of Directors. As President, you become acquainted with many members of the organization and help select award winners such as Jasmine, HGM, and Colorado Gold recipients.
As per our Bylaws, please note that nominees for President need to have at least one year of experience as an elected Officer or two years of experience on the Board of Directors.
RMFW Secretary also serves on the Executive Committee and is responsible for recording and maintaining the minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and Officers, and also maintaining all official documents and legal records of the organization.
Other Opportunities to Volunteer
Communications: Our communications team is looking for volunteers that are skilled in Facebook, MailChimp, and WordPress. If you would be interested in helping out, please email communications@rmfw.org.
Conference Interns: We are looking for any persons interested in becoming Colorado Gold Conference Interns. Interns will work with conference chairs on conference planning and execution tasks. Chairs will offer training and oversight. Our goal is to allow persons interested in becoming more involved with the conference to learn more about what is involved. At the same time, we will be able to provide hands-on training and identify potential future conference chairs.
Candidates must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. They must be capable of multi-tasking and work well independently as well as part of a team. Interpersonal communication skills are vital, as is the ability to delegate and supervise others. Individuals should be familiar with spreadsheets and social media. Applicants should contact us at conference@rmfw.org for more information.
Programs: Share your knowledge! Our programs are free to both members and non-members, and we’re always looking for presenters to share their knowledge. If you are interested in presenting in the Denver area, email or front range programs chair at denverprograms@rmfw.org. If you are interested in presenting on the Western Slope, please email our western slope chair at western_slope@rmfw.org.
Contribute to the RMFW Blog: The RMFW blog posts new articles several times every week, so we always welcome new content. Be a guest contributor to post on a once-in-a-while basis, or become a regular contributor if you want to post more frequently. Email blog@rmfw.org.
Lead or start a new critique group: RMFW offers regular, general critique groups as well as genre-specific critique groups for members interested in feedback on works in progress, cover letters or synopses. Members are always needed to lead a critique group or help with existing groups. If you’re interested email critique@rmfw.org.
Conference Volunteers: RMFW’s Colorado Gold Conference is a big success each year thanks to our many volunteers. Be part of the magic and volunteer this year.
