I choose to believe Colorado Gold will happen, come September.
I choose to believe that we’ll figure out a new something by then—new rules of gathering, let’s say.
I choose to believe we’ll start to put this pandemic behind us.
And when Colorado Gold rolls around, if you’re an unpublished writer, you don’t want to miss the rebranded Colorado Gold Literary Awards Contest.
The contest opened last week (March 30) and closes on midnight on May 29.
Do. Not. Miss. Out.
Why would you?
For a mere $35 entry fee, you can submit the first 4,000 words of your work in progress and see how you stack up.
For an additional $25 (a grand total of $60) you’ll get a detailed critique from a qualified judge.
Sixty bucks!
And you might win.
And receive:
- $150.
- Recognition at Saturday’s dinner banquet.
- Your photograph featured on the RMFW website.
- A one-on-one session with the VIP judge in your category.
- An invitation to attend an informal reception with the VIP judges, other finalists, and the Colorado Gold Rush Literary Awards committee.
The contest has some new wrinkles this year, including the snazzy new name and brand, so check out all the specific details and categories, etcetera, here.
Do you get an instant publishing deal if you win? Uh, no.
Instant fame? Around the conference, yes. Isn’t that enough?
But entering alone is a good thing to do—even if you don’t final (or win).
More than anything, you’re going to see how your work stacks up. To get professional feedback for $60 alone is worth it right there. Slam dunk.
You’ll be investing in your career. It will be a signal that you’re taking it seriously, that you care enough about your writing to find out if the story in your head is landing effectively as words on a page.
That’s a very big deal.
And even if the conference doesn’t happen, this is one function of RMFW that can all be handled online.
Either way, you come out a winner.
(Entries are capped… don’t wait too long.)
