Author: Mary Gillgannon

Mary Gillgannon began writing historical romance soon after she discovered the genre. She loves how these stories allow her to portray the excitement and high stakes of past eras, yet focus on relationships and create a happy ending. She has written seventeen novels, including romances set in the dark age, medieval and Regency time periods, time travel and historical fantasy. Her books have been translated into Russian, Chinese, Dutch and German. She has worked at the Laramie County Library for over twenty-fire years and acquires adult fiction as part of her job.

In less than two months I am retiring. All at once I will have an extra thirty-two hours every week to do whatever I want. One of my goals (dreams) is to write more and produce more pages. But will it work out that way? I am hopeful, but also aware of the potential pitfalls…

Writing Like I Read

Posted on February 3, 2022February 17, 2022 by Mary Gillgannon

My son was joking recently that he is addicted to sleeping (he and his wife have a new baby, which could partly account for this). My husband claimed his “addiction” is running. My reaction was immediate—my addiction is reading. Reading calms and de-stresses me. It takes me away from my worries. I escape them by…

Reviews–Ruling Our Writing Fortunes

Posted on January 7, 2022January 7, 2022 by Mary Gillgannon

Online reviews have changed the entire retail and service landscape. You can look up nearly anything: a product, a service, and immediately see what people thought of it. Churches. Doctors. Historic sites. Everything is subject to being rated. People have had opinions about books since the form existed. But for a long time, these opinions…
