February, being Black History Month, I’ve listed a few authors that have not only taught me, but inspired me.

In the book titled, African Americans of Denver, I learned about Dr. Justina Ford. Albeit Mrs. Ford was not an author, she has inspired me in ways only she, me, and God know.
Adrian Miller is a James Beard Award–winning author who lives in Denver. He wrote, Soul Food: The Surprising Story of an American Cuisine, One Plate at a Time, The President’s Kitchen Cabinet: The Story of the African Americans Who Have Fed Our First Families, from the Washingtons to the Obamas, and Black Smoke: African Americans and the United States of Barbecue.
The first book in America written by a Black author, according to my research, is a bit on the controversial side. Therefore, let’s focus on an in-the-present incredible 12-year-old:
Nationwide — At 12 years old, Nicholas Buamah is a young African American author, producer and philanthropist who continues to defy expectations in the literary world with the release of his 4th book, The Sky Is Not The Limit, Positive Affirmations To Help You Rise Above The Sky. Colorado’s own Camille Dungy, (don’t know if she’s related to coach Dungy), has accumulated four books. Two are listed here:
Winner of the Colorado Book Award in Poetry (2018), the below book offers poems about birth, death, and ecosystems of nature and power.
