Conference Code of Conduct

The RMFW Colorado Gold Writers Conference is dedicated to providing an inclusive, harassment-free conference experience for everyone regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, age, disability, physical appearance, level of education, or writing experience. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive verbal comments or behavior counter to the inclusive spirit of Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events
  • Inappropriate physical contact and/or unwelcome attention
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers has a zero-tolerance policy. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, Colorado Gold Writers Conference staff retain the right to take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or immediate expulsion from the premises (including virtual platforms) with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Colorado Gold Writers Conference staff immediately. Such staff can be identified on name badges and will make their appearance known/visible on any online platform.

Reports will be monitored throughout the entirety of the conference and will be dealt with immediately.

The Colorado Gold Writers Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We appreciate your attendance, and more importantly, we value your safety and comfort. This code of conduct applies to all official Colorado Gold Writers Conference and event spaces (virtual and live), including registration, panels, meetings, book room, hospitality suite, website, and our social media accounts. The code also applies to social events, such as receptions, breakfasts/lunches, ceremonies, auctions, and book signings.
