What are the 2024 conference dates?
September 27-29, 2024.
How do I connect with others at the conference?
#CoGold2024 and #IamRMFW
How do I register? When is the deadline?
Registration for the 2024 Colorado Gold Writers Conference opens May 1st. Click the “Register” button on our conference homepage to get started! Early bird registration ends May 31st at midnight, and regular registration ends August 15th at midnight. Late registration is available until September 10th.
Where is the schedule for the conference?
*Currently being put together.* When it is available, you can find it by clicking on the “Conference Schedule” image on the conference’s main page. This year, we’re using a scheduling app called Sched. You can create an account and have the whole schedule and floor plan at your fingertips. Or, if you prefer something simpler or need a more accessible format, a Word document will be available for download at the top of the page.
I would like to advertise my book at the conference. Is there a way to do that?
Yes. We offer places for author banners in the hotel. You can sign up here.
Can I spend the night at the Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver Conference Center?
Of course, and we hope you do! We fit a lot of excellent programming into our conferences and the best way to ensure you can take advantage of all we have to offer is to book a room. Click HERE to book a room at our group rate, $164/night, available September 26th through 29th, 2024. Rooms must be booked before August 17th to use this group rate.
What meals are included with registration?
Friday dinner, Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, and Sunday brunch. On Saturday and Sunday morning, there will be coffee and tea in the conference foyer between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Coffee and tea is also available after lunch and dinner and available for purchase at the hotel’s Borealis Coffee Shop.
Is there free parking at the hotel?
There is! We’ve negotiated with the Hyatt Regency Aurora Denver so access to their secure parking garage is included with your registration.
What COVID-19 precautions is the conference taking?
As we navigate the ever-changing “new normal” of our world, the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers is focused on keeping our attendees safe and comfortable throughout the conference weekend, scheduled Sept. 27-29, 2024. Toward that aim, please note the following conference policies:
- At the time registration opened, neither state nor local health restrictions regarding large, indoor gatherings were in place. However, new restrictions or recommendations regarding COVID-19 and other health risks may be made between registration and the conference, and RMFW may enact safety policies closer to the event in response. Any changes to the policy will be posted to the conference website and social media. Check periodically to stay informed.
- Masks are encouraged but voluntary. Again, a mask mandate may be reinstated with careful consideration of the COVID-19 regional case counts nearing the time of the event. Such a mandate proved unnecessary in 2022 and 2023.
- Participation includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including but not limited to COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist.
- Conference attendees who are actively ill, contagious or have been recently exposed to COVID should stay home out of an abundance of caution and to respect the safety of others.
- In the name of safety, all participants should agree to abide by the conference’s Code of Conduct, which can be found on the conference website at https://rmfw.org/conference-code-of-conduct/.
What’s different about the Agent/ Editor pitch sessions this year?
The format hasn’t changed—you’ll still have 10 minutes to pitch one of your selected agents as part of your conference registration fee—but we are adapting the room set-up to be similar to other large conferences. Rather than be alone in a room, all the agents and editors will be spread out in one large room.
So what does this mean on the day? You’ll greet our Pitchmaster, Jonathan Christian, next to the registration desk outside the ballroom in the “Pitch Prep” area where he’ll check you in and give you a table number. Two minutes before your allotted time, you’ll enter the ballroom, locate your table number, and go stand at a specified area near the table. When a bell rings, the person at the table in front of you will stand, and you’ll take your seat and start your pitch.
Will someone else in the room be able to hear your pitch? No, the agents and editors will be spaced out around the room giving everyone the privacy they need to focus.
How do I choose the agent I want to pitch to?
When you register, you’ll select your first, second, and third choice agents. Our pitchmaster will assign attendees to their choice agent in order of first-registered, first-served. If on the day there are cancellations, you may check-in with the pitch-desk to snag a spot with another agent.
How will roundtable critique registrants submit their pages?
All participants will get a private email about the process to submit and review other folks as soon as the sessions are full. They will get to share ten pages of their work in progress with a submission deadline in mid July.
I can no longer attend. How do I cancel?
Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers will gladly refund your conference registration fees, less a $50.00 processing fee. You must notify the conference chair to cancel your conference registration. No refunds can be issued after AUGUST 10, 2024. Please contact conference@rmfw.org to cancel.
