I have a special diet. How do I make sure I’m getting served correctly?
The hotel is used to accommodating special dietary restrictions for all their
conferences. As long as you’ve indicated your requirements when originally
registering online, you will receive the corresponding meal cards for the dinners in
your registration packet. If you don’t find these, let us know in advance and we
will remedy it, or you can ask your server and they will obtain a special meal plate
for you at dinner. As far as the additional meals work, you will have choices in the
banquet lines and most items are marked.
Do I have to sit at a certain table for the meals and banquet?
We have open seating except for one or two tables directly in front of the
stage, and these will be marked. You are welcome to sit wherever you like.
Presenters, agents, editors, etc. will also be attending meals and will be scattered
throughout the banquet hall.
Although I signed up to pitch with an editor/agent, can I approach them
informally?
We ask that you respect an agent/editor’s break time. That said, if you find yourself sitting with one of our guests, you’re welcome to share and converse with them, but PLEASE let them take the lead. If they are open to discussing your project or manuscript, they will ask you about it. We also hope you will be cognizant of other attendees’ interest in conversing with our guests and not monopolize their time and attention. Have your 10-second elevator pitch ready to use!
I wanted to pitch to more than one agent/editor but could only sign up for one
of them. Can I still pitch to more than one?
To guarantee that our attendees have at least one opportunity to pitch at
the Colorado Gold Conference, we limit scheduled appointments. That said, we
often have extra slots due to last-minute cancellations, no shows, and
agents/editors willing to add additional pitch appointments to their schedule. If
extra slots become available for in-person pitches, we will make announcements
on Friday evening and Saturday morning during meals. If anything opens up for
virtual appointments, we will make announcements on Saturday evening or
Sunday morning during the meals.
If I am staying at the hotel, do I automatically get an extension for checkout
since the conference goes beyond the normal checkout time?
We cannot guarantee you will be able to arrange for an extension. That
opportunity is dependent on the hotel’s reservations and needs. You must inquire
on your own (we recommend you do this at check-in) to avoid any unnecessary
fees. Be assured that the hotel offers free storage for suitcases, etc. if you need to
check out at their regularly scheduled time on Sunday but plan to stay for the
duration.
For additional questions and answers, check back prior to the conference on this
site. We’ll add to this list as we receive additional inquiries. Or you can email your
questions to conference@rmfw.org.
