Have you been taking writing classes, going to conferences and getting feedback from critique partners, but are struggling to elevate your writing to finalist or even winner of contests? Or are you ready to move on with your writing career as an independently published writer? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you’ll want to sign up for one of the two Thursday Intensives at the upcoming RMFW Colorado Gold Conference.
Intermediate Novel Writing: From Finished to Fabulous is intended to take your writing to a new level. This course provides eight hours of class time from four MFA instructors who have each written award-winning novels. We will learn in-depth about plot, character, setting and narrative distance:
- “How to Get Your Plot Working As a Whole” with Rachel Weaver
- “World as Character: Bringing Your Setting to Life” with Courtney E. Morgan
- “Main Character Writing: Richer, Rounder, Fuller” with Traci Jones
- “Let’s Get Intimate: Working With Narrative Distance” with Tiffany Quay Tyson
If you’re seeking a deep dive into independent publishing, you could instead* sign up for the Indie Publishing Bootcamp Thursday Intensive. Taught by four amazing writers who have each been recognized as RMFW Writer of the Year, these classes will cover writing, revising, publishing and advertising, as those topics relate to a successful career as an independently published writer.
- “Roll Up Your Sleeves: Doing the Grunt Work of Writing Your Novel” with Amy Rivers
- “Knowing Your Publishing Options as an Indie Author” with Bernadette Soehner
- “Revision and Editing for Indie Authors” with Stephanie Reisner
- “Build Your Foundation with Facebook Ads” with Andre Gonzalez
The cost of the intensives is not only discounted from individual classes through other venues but also includes a buffet lunch, coffee and snacks, and a post-class happy hour drink at the Hyatt Borealis restaurant. Many of the attendees will stay for the whole conference, so the intensives will provide a chance to network with a small group of like-minded writers–a perfect way to meet future critique partners and writing friends before the conference begins.

*Note that the two intensives are not interchangeable: you have to choose one!
