If you’re reading this post, you’re probably a fiction writer! And if you’re a fiction writer, you’ve probably got ideas about the writing life. You’ve probably had experiences that you learned from. You probably have resources that you’re using to improve your writing. You may have been to writers’ conferences, joined a critique group, or interacted with the writing community in other ways. You may have built your “author platform”… blog, social media accounts, and Amazon and Goodreads accounts. And you may have published your writing, through either the traditional or independent route.
If that describes you, and if you would like to share your experiences and insights with the RMFW community, we would like to hear from you!
We’re looking for some new bloggers for the RMFW Blog. Over the past year some of our regular bloggers have had to step back to take on new opportunities, or to deal with life in general. We currently have an average of two blog posts a week. We would like to have three or four posts a week, so we have room on our calendar for seven or eight new voices!
So what’s involved in being an RMFW blogger? Well, the first requirement is that you must be a member in good standing of RMFW. You must be familiar with WordPress. You must be able to submit an article for the blog every month. And… that’s about it! Now—what kind of content are we looking for?
Our blog’s theme is Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, so we’re interested in original, well-crafted, proofread blog posts from RMFW members on writing (all fiction genres) and the writing life; reports on RMFW and other literary events; interviews with writers and publishing professionals; photo essays; and writing-related book reviews. We’re looking for:
- Articles (500-800 words): Posts on writing craft, writing life, and other writing-related topics. Posts may include information about your publications or events, but should not be pure advertisement. Content must be family-friendly. Posts should be thoroughly revised and proofread before submitting. Humor is not required, but is always welcome.
- Book reviews (300-600 words): Reviews of books on writing craft, writing life, pitching, marketing, and other writing-related topics.
- Event reports (500-1000 words): Reports on recent RMFW and other literary events you attended and what you learned from the experience.
- Interviews (500-1500 words): Interviews with authors, agents, publishing professionals, RMFW members, etc. Interviews should be in question-and-answer format. The ideal interview will provide some personal information as well as general writing advice that will be useful to a broad audience.
If you’re interested in becoming an RMFW blogger, you can go to our Guest Post page and submit a sample article as an application. You can also enter your bio and upload a headshot image.
If you have any questions before submitting your article, please write to me at blog@rmfw.org.
